Who Should Buy Arctis Nova 5X?
Good fit
Buy the Arctis Nova 5X if you need a wireless headset that can move among Xbox, PC, PlayStation, Switch and mobile devices.
Its compact USB-C dongle, dual wireless modes and quick-switch control are particularly useful when gaming and phone audio share the same day.
It is also a good fit for players who want to explore game-specific audio settings. The companion app provides more than 100 presets, while ChatMix offers an on-headset way to adjust the balance between game and other audio.
Long sessions are another reason to consider it: the battery is rated for 60 hours, and USB-C fast charging can add six hours of use in 15 minutes.
For outdoor calling, make microphone performance in wind a deciding check.
Who should skip it
Skip it if your only requirement is a headset for a single device and you have no use for the dual wireless modes, companion app presets or on-ear ChatMix.
Those features are a larger part of the value for someone who will use them across gaming and media.
It may also be a poor fit if your setup depends on a connection method other than the compact USB-C dongle or Bluetooth. Confirm your device’s ports and pairing needs before choosing it.
Arctis Nova 5X Review: Practical Gaming Headset Analysis
Two wireless paths for gaming and everyday audio
The 2.4GHz mode is geared toward gaming, while Bluetooth supports calls and media.
The Quick-Switch control makes moving between those uses straightforward in principle, and incoming-call notification beeps can help keep a phone call from being overlooked during play.
Buyers who rely on calls in noisy or windy places should check how the microphone performs in their own conditions.
Presets add choice, not automatic improvement
The companion app offers more than 100 presets for named games, which gives players a way to choose a tailored starting point.
Presets are useful when a player wants to experiment with game audio; they are less valuable to someone who prefers one fixed sound profile and does not want to manage settings through an app.
Battery headroom for longer sessions
A 60-hour battery rating is one of the clearest practical benefits for people who dislike frequent charging.
Fast charging can provide six hours of use after 15 minutes, so a short charging break may be enough to get through another session; actual use between charges depends on how the headset is used.
Controls and microphone affect day-to-day fit
Power, mute, volume, ChatMix and Quick-Switch controls sit on the headset, and the microphone retracts when it is not needed.
That combination should appeal to players who want common adjustments close at hand and a mic that can be moved out of the way.
The listed microphone audio format is a technical specification, not a guarantee of call clarity in every setting.

Consider the Nova 3P if mobile app control, a larger preset library and its fast-charge option match your priorities. Choose the Nova 5X if Xbox support and its 60-hour battery rating are more important.
- The Nova 3P offers mobile app control, more than 200 game presets and fast charging that provides up to nine hours of playback after 15 minutes; its full charge lasts up to 40 hours.

Is Arctis Nova 5X Worth It?
The SteelSeries Arctis Nova 5X is worth considering for multi-platform players who want Xbox support, flexible wireless modes, app-based game presets and long battery life.
Its retractable microphone and on-headset controls also suit gaming setups where quick adjustments matter.
The buying case is weaker if you will use only one device and none of the customization or switching features.
For outdoor calls, consider your microphone needs carefully; its technical audio format alone does not establish how it will perform in wind.
